Superstar diva Barbra Streisand has had plastic surgery - after years of insisting she'd never go under the knife.

The 61-year-old singer and actress was so intent on keeping her surgery secret, she wore a black scarf over her face covered by a hat - but American tabloid the NATIONAL ENQUIRER snapped her as she was leaving the clinic.

A source says, "Barbra Streisand said she was going to be off the scope for a few weeks to relax because she was so stressed out. She wanted everyone to notice her new look, but she wanted it to look natural like she had gone to a spa for a long rest. She got exfoliated, went on a liquid diet and started to do yoga."

Barbra brought her spiritual adviser to the Beverly Hills, California, office with her on 30 July (03) to calm her nerves.

The source explains, "Barbra was very jittery. Her female spiritual healer did everything she could to keep her calm.Barbra Streisand and the healer said positive prayers and chanted to stay focused.

"They meditated and listened to soothing music. By the time she went under the knife, Barbra was calm."

Barbra Streisand must have seen those terrible pictures of herself that came out recently, or maybe she just wants to spruce up for her latest concert comeback. Regardless she’s seen outside a plastic surgeon’s office clutching a juice box while covered in a black veil.

It will take more than surgery to fix Babs. Maybe she should call Madonna and get some tips on how to slim down while cashing in on tired old gimmicks to sell out concerts. Barbra Streisand desperately needs the help, her high-priced concert tickets aren’t selling well and her longterm fans are pissed at paying big bucks for her last tour, which she claimed was her final one.

She’s one of the most widely viewed and discussed women on the Internet but now the Ukranian model known as the “human Barbie” for her doll-like figure is speaking out to deny rumors of rampant plastic surgery and reveal her higher purpose in life.

“Some people even spread rumors about me and retouch my pictures to hurt me. But I don’t take them seriously,” Valeria Lukyanova tells V Magazine.  “I’m even flattered! It’s what success is like. I’m happy I seem unreal to them, it means I’m doing a good job.”

Lukyanova, also an artist and singer, first made headlines in April when photos of her seemingly inhuman-like proportions were posted on websites like Jezebel.com and Huffington Post and quickly went viral.  Commenters questioned whether Lukyanova was manufactured and, if she was real, how much plastic surgery she must have undergone to get her impossibly whittled waist, buxom chest and symmetrical features.

A spokesman for Lukyanova told ABC News the only plastic surgery she has had is a breast enhancement.  The “human Barbie” herself told V Magazine she achieves her look with makeup.

“Many people say bad things about people who want to perfect themselves. It’s hard work, but they dismiss it as something done by surgeons or computer artists,” she tells V.  “This is how they justify not wanting to strive for self-improvement. It’s how they explain their continued inaction. It’s just an excuse. There are plenty of video clips on the Internet showing what I really look like.”

Also revealed in the extensive interview for the magazine’s new issue, on newsstands Nov. 15, is Lukyanova’s deeply-held belief in the metaphysical and spiritual worlds, including her belief that the titles of singer, model and artist are just “labels for my creative potential,” not her “true essence.”

“I’m a teacher at the School of Out-of-Body Travel. It’s an international school in which our instructors show students how to leave their physical body and travel in their spiritual body, where you can visit any place on the planet and in the universe,” she says.  “I know that this is the future of mankind and that it has huge potential. Hidden reserves will be tapped soon. ”

Lukyanova says her spiritual name is Amatue, an Atlantean reference to the goddess of the sun.

Though she describes herself as the “most famous woman of the Russian-speaking Internet,” Lukyanova says she is unfazed by the attention over her looks.

“I know the other side of celebrity is negativity, but I see it in a positive light,” she tells V.  “If people care about me, then I am on the right path. In real life, I never hear bad things.”

“Indeed, I’ve noticed a trend,” she continues. “Every good-looking woman with fine features and a slim figure looks like a doll. I won’t deny that I play along with people’s perceptions. I’m amused by the reactions. I don’t take it seriously.”


We were totally impressed when we saw Promise Tamang Phan, who, using only makeup, can turn herself into nearly any celebrity. But turning yourself into someone else using plastic surgery? That's taking things to a whole other level.

Meet Valeria Lukyanova, a 21-year-old Ukrainian model who has made herself up into a real-life Barbie. Thanks to Jezebel, we were made aware of Lukyanova's prolific web presence, which includes thousands of photos of the model looking, well, like a Barbie.

Lukyanova's got the long, straight blonde hair, the flawless ivory skin, the wide-eyed look and the heart-shaped mouth. Even more unbelievable, however, is her tiny, seemingly carved-out waist and her disproportionally large chest. It may not be scientifically exact, but Lukyanova comes close to real-life Barbie proportions.

Valeria's Tumblr does include some relatively natural-looking photos (and a video of her without any makeup). But then there are those where, covered in layers of makeup and possibly Photoshop, she looks truly plastic.

Has Valeria achieved her Mattel-made look through surgery? This newsreel suggests so, although we've seen other wannabe dolls get the Barbie look through makeup alone.

Then again, this woman paid over $800,000 to look like Barbie. So it's not out of the realm of possibility.

From a distance, and with the help of lighting, makeup and photography, everything looked great, if a little surreal in their photos. But looking a little closer and you might be a little frightened. Butts, cheeks, and lips of plastic, they are Frakensteinas of surgery. Let us not ask what might be altered, is any of it real? With those wide-eyes and strange faces it makes you believe even more that if you pricked them with a needle all the air would come hissing out as they deflate.

Barbara Walters stepped out recently, looking very unlike her usual self. Her face is much tighter and puffier then it was last year and it appears that she has had a bit of a plastic surgery tune up:

The Daily Mail is just one of the publications to point to it, speculating that the television personality must have had a full facelift and some other minor interventions in her bid to erase the signs of time.

“With her career still going strong you can’t blame Barbara Walters for wanting to maintain her on-camera appearance,” the British tab writes.

“The 82-year-old television host and veteran journalist recently debuted what appears to be a freshly-tightened face sparking rumors that she went under the knife,” says the same media outlet.

Radar Online agrees, after speaking with plastic surgeons about Walters’ altered looks. While they have never treated the star, they believe her new face is so strange looking because of a combination of a plastic surgery and too much filler.

One Beverly Hills plastic surgeon offers an explanation.

“Barbara Walters appears to have had another facelift combined with way too much fat or filler injections,” Dr. Ashkan Ghavami says.

He calls the intervention “the last straw” in plastic surgery, saying she looks overdone, just like Melanie Griffith also does.

However, he believes her face hasn’t settled yet and that it’s still showing some post-operative swelling.

“The combination of excess pull and too much fat transfer are likely the culprits here,” Dr. Ghavami adds, stressing that Walters had too much fat removed from under her eyelids, which caused an “A line” deformity.

Walters hasn’t addressed rumors of getting work done yet, but there’s no denying that she had something done. Pictures really are worth a thousand words.

We must admit that when we saw the photos of Babs showering the newlyweds with confetti, we weren’t convinced that the images were properly identified.
